Early and accurate diagnosis of neuropathy is important for appropriate treatment and cure.  A podiatrist is often the first doctor that is seen to diagnose and treat neuropathy.

What is Neuropathy?

Neuropathy (or peripheral neuropathy) is any abnormal or degenerative condition of the nervous system or nerves.  The causes and symptoms are wide-ranging, and the pain can be mild to extremely severe.  Diabetic patients often suffer with neuropathy, but you do NOT have to be a diabetic to suffer with neuropathy. Some forms of neuropathy can be completely corrected, and others may last a lifetime. The most common sites are the legs and feet.
